WORKING FOR THE WIN
I take a quick look at the scoreboard.
My face is dripping with sweat...
The other team has a hold of the ball...
I start sprinting what I have,
my legs protesting.
15 seconds.
I get the strength to step in,
take the ball,
and get it out.
I throw it across the room.
10 seconds…
9 seconds…
8 seconds…
my head is swirling.
We need this basket to
win.
She takes it, just throwing it up to the basket.
5 seconds…
4 seconds…
it swirls around the rim,
and that only gets me
more tense.
3 seconds…
2 seconds…
it finally chooses its path,
which is going through the net.
the sound of time-up
has me feeling victorious.
Like a winner.
The crowds cheering is
music to my ears.
Just hearing our school name
cheered for has me feeling
Defeatless.
Strong.
We won against the
best team in the state.

Playing In Nature
I walk outside to the breezy day,
and I watch as the branches
swing and sway.
I watch as the grass lays swaying and green,
and see that no strand is lying unseen.
Even though all of nature goes
together in a nice way
it all has it’s own way that it sways.
I run to the playground and feel the cool air,
and nature sways in nice beats as I stare.

Ticking To The Weekend
The clock is ticking time away,
and almost ending the beautiful day.
I take another glance at the clock,
and then the others start to talk.
It is almost the end of the last day of school,
and that is when there are no rules.
The minute hand passes by the twelve at last,
and that is when people start racing past.
The school day’s over,
fun at last.
The weekend’s going to be such a blast.

Volleyball
I hit the volleyball in the sky
and watched as it goes flying by
the other team hits it to our side
and when I
try to get it,
me and my teammate collide.
I fall to the ground where the ball now lays,
and pick it up, my head in a daze.
I try to feel fine, but my head still hurts.
Is it bad that I want to see the nurse?
I ignore the pain as I hit the ball.
and we win, once and for all!
