Welcome to the VIPpoets Homepage
***I no longer teach 7th grade English, but due to the volume of people using the site as a resource, I am going to leave the page up indefinitely. Thanks for all the notes and link requests!
This is the place where you can view poetry from your local VIP Poets in Mrs. K's 7th grade English classes! My students are encouraged to try out many different kinds of poems from the silly to the serious. Some are experiments in "breaking the rules" of grammar, spelling, capitalization, and punctuation to achieve a special effect, some are to test out their rhyming skills or to create a refrain poem, and some are just to try out new forms like acrostic poems, ABC poems, clerihews, diamantes, wingsparks, and many more! Remember, these are works in progress, so bear with us and our typos!
RULES for VIPpoets pages:
1) Only Valley 7th graders are currently allowed to contribute to the VIPpoetry site.
2) You are only allowed to edit your own poetry page! Yes, even if they have errors. If you want to help them out, tell them personally a change you suggest, but do not change their poems!
3) No vulgar/inappropriate poetry or comments allowed on this site or there will be serious consequences. Remember I can see who makes all changes and comments!
5) Make sure your poem is an original. Do not take someone else's poem and put it on your site!
6) Permission slips must be signed and returned before submitting poetry as per school rules.
7) No last names.
8) Get permission from classmates before using their names in your poems.
9) Make sure graphics and pictures you use are copyright free. Try using the AEA clipart site or another free cliparat database. You cannot just take a picture from somebody's website without their permission!
10) Have fun!
Check out our Valley 7th Grade VIP Poets!
Feel free to contact Mrs. K with any questions.
(Other teachers, that includes you too!--I am always happy to share and compare.)
