I Could've Done Better Free Verse Sports Poem
Its my turn up to bat my teammates say “good luck” as I walk out of the dugout nervously, I walk to the batter’s box do a few practice swings I look at the pitcher nodding I step up to the plate ready hands sweaty staring at the pitcher's glove knowing my team is counting on me 9 to 9 is the score 1 inning left I grip the bat she throws the ball I swing, but miss I step back my team says “you got this” I can’t miss she pitches again I swing the ball goes towards first I sprint I’m not going to make it she catches the ball I jog back thinking I’ve let my team down I could’ve done better |
